Do you ever have one of those days where you feel like you stood in front of the sink ALL DAY LONG? If you are like me I feel like this most days. But really its my own fault. You see, I have this unique ability to use twice as many utensils/dishes as needed to create most meals. In addition to that I really enjoy trying new recipes and just making messes in the kitchen. I've come to realize this is my creative outlet. I don't scrapbook, paint or sew. I'm working on taking better pictures but my iphone has been making me lazy in that arena. It just takes surprisingly good pictures! But the kitchen, that is where my creative juices start flowing. Unfortunately this creative outlet doesn't take away the unpleasant nature of dirty dishes. You know that afternoon where you wish you hadn't baked those cookies or you were really wishing you had unloaded the dishwasher first thing that morning so you didn't have to do it during naptime in order to clean dishes from lunch. I have those discouraging moments too. I realize these things are not truly a big deal but when you are exhausted from running after your toddler or just the daily grind those things can seem to get you down. My little trick for lifting my spirit on these afternoons? A shiny sink. It's amazing how cleaning out whatever you have in your sink and giving it a quick scrub really makes life seems a little better. It really doesn't take that long--set a timer for five uninterrupted minutes and I promise you will be surprised at how much you can get done. The next time you go to fill up the Brita or rinse out your coffee mug it will put a smile on your face to see that sparkling faucet staring back at you. So, wherever you are in life I know there is one thing we can all agree on, it's the little things that often get us through the bigger things.
I am excited to have a little place on the world wide web and I hope you enjoy stopping by (once your dishes are done of course).
